Serik Membeli

Sebab... CD yang dijual telah pun rosak. Uhhhh... ROSAK.

So, review nya, NO MORE cd jalanan. Mama akan cari di kedai. Huuuu

Flashcards

Sebab, nak tunjuk kat member.

Ini guna masa Adam dekat-dekat setahun. Before that, mama pakai graphic stimulation untuk mata Adam.

Hilang kenangan. Tak dapat ingat exact date. Huuu....

Sila compare size...

Yang kecik2 tu, pakai recently. Bukan2... tapi tahun ini la.... Saiz A4 potong empat. Tapi, hangat-hangat tahi ayam. Sebab, mama dah masukkan dalam box. Akan digunakan later :D

Peter and Jane ni, mama dah jarang guna. Sebab tengah pakai buku lain pulak.

Material untuk tulis bagi baby, ini. Guna artline 100. Beli colour merah untuk baby. Kenapa merah? So, untuk baby, gunalah marker pen / ink / colour merah.

Mata marker pen tu, besar! Sesuai untuk baby.

Teringin Nak Shopping Buku

Sempat la mama browse while waiting dlm meeting room. Buku-buku terbitan kumon. Wah!! Ada a few yang mama rasa sangat-sangat berkenan. Tak sabar nk tunggu hari Jumaat. Lunch hour panjang. Nak g MPH. Huu.... Sangat2 teruja. HaraP-harap Adam pun teruja.

Mama grab aje sebab tajuk dia bagus.

Lama juga tak buat aktiviti tampal menampal. Selalunya, ada aje stock stickers mama simpan. Dah lama tak bei sticker. Sticker book Adam dah penuh. So, mama buat yang lain. Yang ini, tak guna kertas tebal. Guna kertas A4 biasa sahaja. Sebab,  mama cut budget. Hahaha.... Stock kertas tebal dah habis, so, kita gunakan apa yang ada. Jimat sayang...

Selongkar punya selongkar, akhirnya jumpa sticker ni. Dapat lah Adam rasmikan sticker book dia. Alhamdulillah. Sticker beli masa pergi zoo dulu.

Malam-malam, Adam main pasir pulak.

Biasalah bila Adam buat kerja, pasti kecah ruang tamu. Takat nak main pasir ni, main kat luar aje. Senang nak kemas :D

Budak Besar Masih Hisap Botol Susu

Huuuu.... masih gonggong botol susu. Adoi... macam mana nak buang botol susu ni?

Adam, kalau hisap susu, tak nak makan nasi dah. Kenyang! So, hanya calcium je yang dia dapat. Zat-zat lain?

Menabung Awal Lebih Baik

Supaya tak terasa kesan naik turun saham lagi.

Master Chef Malaysia

Agak-agak, boleh jadi master chef tak?

Sound Of The Letter - Phonic Song

Phonic song ni, nampaknya belum mencapai matlamat. Phonic Reader 2 juga. Slowly but consistent. Insya Allah, kita akan berjaya.

Hari ni, mama try cara lain pula. Besides nyanyi phonic song while looking at the monitor, mama tutup monitor and, kita nyanyi sambil tengok cards. Cards ni, mama buat in rushing, so, tak la cantik. Rasa macam kena buat baru... tapi, tak perlu la kot. Sayang pulak kat paper dia. I use thick paper. Mula-mula, cari board card, tapi, dah habis. So, i have to use paper ni. Macam tak proper pula kalau guna normal A4 paper. Takut tak tahan lama.

Harap-harap cara ni akan membantu Adam.

English Preposition - Song

Song Of The Week :D
Setakat ni, Adam cuma tahu "ON" dengan "UNDER" je. Harap-harap dia boleh capture preposition lain thru this song.

Milo Cicah Biskut

Selalu, mama bagi milo kotak aje. Azam baru, kurangkan milo kotak. Takut kencing manis. Lepas ni, kena rajin-rajin bancuh air.

Candid sebenarnya. Tapi, Adam pantang nampak camera. Asal sempat, mesti dia posing. First time makan biskut cicah milo. Hhaha.... Suka rupanya dia.

Artwork

Dah dua tiga hari kita main watercolour. Free drawing. Mama bagi kertas A4 untuk Adam mengekspresi diri. Hahaha... Patut snap gambar-gambar tu. Cuma, malas nak snap, kerana rasanya, masih macam biasa.

Cuba lihat. Yang ini guna crayon. Yang ni, bukan drawing, but colouring.

Macam biasa, kalau colour, mesti tak penuh. Kalau penuh, habis hilang gambar. Hehehe.

Adam colour penuh! Cantik pulak tu.... Pokok yang hijau plain tu, mama yang colour. Yang colourfull tu pulak, Adam yang colour. Cantikkkk!!! Suka! Mama masih boleh kenal, itu adalah pokok. Ngeee :D

Learning Sheet

Finally, mama ada satu learning sheet. Mama buat time Adam tido... Keh keh keh. So, harap-harap, mama akan lebih organize. Mama ni, sebenarnya ada entah beribu-ribu kot material utk early education. Sebab, mama memang suka topic ni since anak dara lagi. So, memang dah lama mama kumpul. Harap-harap, mama dapat put in detail apa aktiviti kita. Amin.

Solat

Candid pic masa Adam solat dengan papa.

Permainan Baru - Yoyo

Adam teringin bermain yoyo. Yoyo pertama patah sebelum Adam tahu apa nak buat. Yoyo kedua, dibeli dua hari lepas. Terpijak.

Next time kita beli yang baru ye...

Tak cukup tinggi untuk main yoyo.

Phonic Discovery Reader 2

Buku no 2 ni, susah sikit nak habis. Maybe sebab ayat-ayat dia agak panjang sikit. So, susah mama nak consistent baca. Kekadang, rasa susah nk sound up the alphabet. So, macam read a loud yang biasa. Sedangkan, mama nak practice phonic.

Takde circus pun sekitar-sekitar sini...

Btw, mama tengah prepare some materials / ideas utk next week. Kita belajar preposition ye sayang :)

Circus

This week nak ajar Adam pasal circus. Agak-agak, macam mana nak imagine ye... Sebab Adam belum pernah  tengok circus. Nampaknya, kena cari circus performance la.... senang sikit nak imagine.

Google-google, jumpa yang ni. Boleh?

Grolier Product

Mama beli ini untuk Adam. Quite expensive. Harap-harap berbaloi.

Kalau hanya utk buku, rasa tak berbaloi bayar beribu-ribu.

Ada a few more products yang mama berkenan. Kalau boleh beli products tu saja, SERONOKNYA! Sebab mama memang berkenan. Kalau tak boleh, xpe la. Mama beli set lain lepas Adam khatam set yang ni.

So, next time, mama akan buat review product ni. Harap-harap, dapat la cerita yang bagus-bagus.

Owh, Magic English pun product Grolier juga. Yang ini, mama bg 2 thumbs up.

Teaching Children Listening Skills Through Reading

Teaching Children Listening
Skills Through Reading

Teaching children listening skills by reading to them will improve their listening skills and train them in the art of active listening.

In fact, teaching children listening skills is one of the most important traits we as adult human beings can help them develop for many different reasons, ranging from academic and real world success to becoming a friend and experiencing true friendship.

Think about it . . . if we aren't talking or reading, we most likely are listening. We listen to the radio, the television, our friends, our family, and our coworkers. But listening is something we have to do actively because "listening to" something and "hearing" something are two very different concepts. This is why teaching children listening skills is so important. We hear the familiar sounds of the refigerator humming, the microwave beeping, the dog barking, the baby crying, and the cars honking. And if we are fortunate enough to break out of the rat race, we can even enjoy the sounds of nature like birds chirping, a brook babbling, the wind blowing, or leaves rustling. But just because we have heard these sounds doesn't mean they have registered in our brains.
The passive nature of hearing is very different from the active nature of listening.  Take, for example, watching the evening news.  If your household is anything like mine, there is usually a lot of commotion going on during the news and the kids just can't seem to give me a moment of peace.  So although the news is on, I am sitting in front of it, and I can hear it, I generally have no idea what was said because I wasn't really listening.  I am distracted by my kids and I am not actively listening to the news.
My solution is generally to turn the tv off because it is just added noise and some day when my kids are older I will be able to watch the news again.  But this is a perfect example of the differences between hearing and active listening.  I heard the news, but I wasn't actively listening to it, so I had no idea what had been said when it was over.
Another situation that exemplifies this difference is remembering people's names.  How many times have you been introduced to
somebody at a party or gathering and within seconds can't remember the person's name.  As the introduction was being made, you were probably thinking to yourself, "well, I'll never remember the name anyway . . . or . . . I am so bad with names."  You heard the person talking and acted polite by pretending to listen, but your brain was really a million miles away and you weren't actively listening to the introduction.  Without engaging your active listening skills, the person's name never entered your brain and therefore, you never had a chance at remembering the name.
Listening skills are developed, and the more we practice the more skilled we become at teaching children listening skills.  Reading to our children not only is a way of teaching children listening skills, it forces them to practice their listening skills.  And we know our children are engaging their active listening skills because of how many times our older children have corrected us. We hear, "You skipped a page."  Or sometimes if I play word games with my son and say, "Beep! Beep! Elephants in a jeep . . . " while reading  Sheep in a Jeep.  I immediately hear, "It's not elephants, Mommy.  It's sheep."  So again, I know my son is actively listening to the story being read to him.  So, it stands to reason that the more time we spend teaching children listening skills by reading to ourMom reading to sonkids, the more they practice their active listening skills and the better they become at it.  In a nutshell, teaching children listening skills by reading aloud to our little ones improves their listening skills, and more importantly, their active listening skills.
Teaching children listening skills is not intuitive. I know we all sometimes wonder if our younger children are actually listening.  And it is harder to know with younger children because they don't have the words and vocabulary yet.
Teaching Children Listening Skills:
A Personal Reflection

I remember before my oldest son turned 2, it was very difficult to read to him.  Oh, I tried, but Eric would never sit still and listen . . . or so it seemed.  I think part of that was because he didn't realize he was supposed to.  Young children learn to sit with you when you read by doing it over and over and over again.  Each time we read to our children we are not only teaching children listening skills, but we are conditioning them about the mechanics of reading.
As I read to Eric, he would wander across the room and I would think to myself, "Is this kid ever going to sit still and listen?"   But I kept at it because I knew the true importance of reading to him.

An early favorite of his was "Go! Dog! Go!" by P.D. Eastman.  Even if Eric moved across the room and started playing with something else, I continued to read.  I really never knew if he was actively listeningor not.  I never pressed the issue nor forced him to stay with me.  I let him go, but I continued to read his favorite, "Go! Dog! Go!"
One day Eric moved away again.  I hadn't seen any improvement and I just didn't see the point, so I stopped reading.  Well, Eric immediately stopped what he was doing and said, "No! No! Tree! Tree!"  We were at the point in the book where the dogs were in their cars and the book asked, "Where are all those dogs going?"

Lo and behold, Eric had been using his active listening skills all along!  He knew the story and he knew the dogs were going to the tree.  Eric had been listening all along, but it had just been in his own way.  I guess in hindsight I should have known that to be the case, because Eric is very much a child who "has to do things in his own way."
Over time, Eric came closer and closer to me as I read aloud.  Today, we snuggle up together all over the house while we read and I can't tell you the number of times a day I hear, "Read, Mommy! R-E-A-D!"
So, "YES!" they are actively listening and practicing their listening skills . . . even the young ones.
Don't ever put pressure on your child about reading, as the benefits are just too important, and most definitely keep on reading.  Some day you just might be surprised like I was.
Bottom line: Teaching children listening skills pays off in too many ways to enumerate!

"A wise old owl sat in an oak.
The more he [listened], the less he spoke;
The less he spoke, the more he [listened].
Why aren't we like that wise old bird."
--Mother Goose

So, here what i'll do : Mama will constantly read a loud a story a day even if Adam tak pay attention. I'll read.

Playdough

Dulu, Adam main set ini. Mama beli set yang agak murah. Bukan brand playdough. Beli 4 dapat free 1. So, murah lah kan?

Setelah lama main (berbulan jugak ), mama perasan dia macam berubah sikit teksturnya. Macam lain la. So, semua mama buang. Takut. Walaupun ditulis non toxic, rasa was-was la juga. So, playdough ini dibeli Julai lalu.

Nampak gaya, Adam memang tak jemu main playdough. Next time, mama beli set yang lain pulak ye :)

Maybe lain kali, mama perlukan bantuan...

2 cawan tepung gandum
2 cawan air
1 sudu besar minyak
21/2 sudu teh cream of tar-tar
Pewarna makanan

Caranya :
  1. Campurkan semua bahan.
  2. Kacau hingga sampai seperti mash potato.
  3. Letak colour yang dikehendaki.
  4. Bagi pada budak.

Animal With Stripes And Spots

Last Wednesday, sempat la ajar Adam tentang animals yang ada stripes and sports on the way to school. Susah nak dapat peluang macam ni. Selalunya, Adam tidur aje. Sampai school pun susah nak kejut.

Alhamdulillah. Siap berduet lagi. Selalunya mama tanya apa Adam makan, main apa, buat apa etc.

Lama tak buat vocab checklist. So, vocabs baru utk Adam : stripes, spots.

Sharpen Listening Skills

Actually, target utama mama selain nak enrich Adam's vocab ialah untuk bantu sharpen his listening skills. Tak nak jadi macam mama. My listening skill is very poor. Huuu...

Alhamdulillah. Nampak juga improvement. Walaupun kecil, mama tetap bangga. Sikit-sikit, lama-lama jadi bukit. Sebab, mama pasti sangat-sangat.

So, apa yang mama kena buat? Maybe we should listen / watch more movies. Yeahh!!!

What's that noise? Simple movie for little kid. Frm British council.

At The Zoo Theme

Konon-konon balance 4 hari lagi minggu ni nak bercerita pasal zoo.

Buku banyak! All i have to do is, buka semua buku-buku yang ada to look at the theme. And... yap, banyak. So, terbuka la sikit minda mama to be more creative.

Last night, mama bagi Adam try main satu educational game. Baru je beli. Cuma belum nak cerita lagi.

Phonic Song

Dah lama tak buka youtube. Found this song. Very interesting :)

Moving Again?

Since mama memindahkan ruang study corner Adamrak buku Adam ) ke 2nd hall, Adam rarely reads books. Konon-konon sebab dekat dengan raya, so, mama sorok la rak buku Adam. Sorry ye sayang. Nanti mama move balik rak buku ke main hall. Huuu.....

Last month, mama beli la buku ini. Murah aje, RM6.90. Tapi, isinya bagus dan sangat simple. Ada stages. Reader 1 ni, utk very beginner. Semua ada sampai Reader 6. Bila naik stage, sentence dia pun complecated la sikit. Sesuai untuk budak-budak macam Adam. So, don't judge a book by it's price :)

Sebab kami baca slow and steady, sebulan jugak lah baru habis buku no 1 ni. Really slow, sebab, sekarang, Adam dah tak ketagih dengan iPad atau XBox, tapi main PSP pulak! Huuu.... Personally, mama memang x setuju budak-budak didedahkan dengan gajet2 macam ni. Leka. Tak nak belajar la...

Tapi, syukur. Adam sekarang rajin membaca. Walaupun cuma 5 minit. Actually, kami dapat la membaca 5 minit a session. Mama manage to get 2 sessions everyday. Dan... puas hati, sebab kami konsisten. TQ Adam... I loves you.

p/s : next week kita move to 2nd book. Sebab this week, mama nak bercerita pasal zoo, animal etc.

Santai Di Pantai

Ni time last raya. Nak cerita pun xde mood, coz dah 2 bulan berlalu. Nway, ini first time Adam main layang-layang dan main air di pantai. Happy :)

Mula-mula pijak pasir, riuh mulut Adam. Eh, dirty la etc. Pijak air pun geli. Takut kotor. Sekali dah sentuh, wahhhh!!!! Seronok.

Ini Pantai Irama, Bachok. Pantai ini sangat bersih ok ( at least pada masa kami dtg ni ).
